When you arrive on the Minginish Peninsula there is a single-track road for 9 miles to the house. There are plenty of ‘passing’ places and the etiquette for these roads if you are new to them is:
Reduce to a safe speed.
If the car behind you is travelling at a faster pace then pull over in a ‘passing place’ and let them pass.
If you meet another car on a single track and someone needs to move - NEVER go FORWARD around the other vehicle…. ALWAYS reverse into the nearest ‘passing place’.
When you arrive at Carbost carry on up the steep road behind the Talisker Distillery. Continue around the road at the top passing through Fernilea (Fernilea Cottage is situated here) and onto Portnalong.
Halfway along Portnalong, there is a junction that has a left turn to Fiskavaig (some sat navs send you left here - do not do it!) Continue ‘down’ the road ahead all the way to the Pier. On the left (before you get to the pier) is a ‘dirt’ track (there is a Bracadale House sign on a bin store to help) turn down here and we are the first house on the left.
Please note the Isle of Skye is a remote destination and there are ‘NO’ street lights anywhere so bear this in mind if you are arriving after daylight.
